Highlighting hair blonde and putting red streaks in, which do I do first?

the girl at Sally's told me to put the red in first, but im afraid the bleach would make it pink!


Im using a high lift developer with Kaleidoscope violet bleach...and wella red permanent color.


I have a chunking cap for the red and a regular highlighting cap for the blond.

That's a tough one, since you're using a technique that I wouldn't suggest using. I'd do them all at the same time, using foils and not any cap. If you do red first, some you accidentally pull through the cap when you want to bleach it, some of the red will be pulled through and become pink. If you do it the other way around, you'll be pulling some previously bleached hair through a cap and adding a permanent color to it. Okay, you can do that. If you can't get someone in the know to assist you doing it all simultaneously with foils, I would do the bleach first, THEN the red, your'e right. Cause red over bleach won't end the world if you accidentally pull some bleached hair through the cap. But if you pull red hair thru the cap to bleach, you're also going to have some pink streaks mixed in!

If you want the red to be really red i would bleach your hair first. Thats what most hair salons do before they put a funky color in. It just makes more sense
