Question about highlighting hair at home?

So i want to put some purple streaks in my hair. I was thinking about using Manic Panic.





However, you need to use the Flashlighting kit, and if i want to just do highlights i imagine it might be kinda hard to do just streaks.





Anyone ever done this kind of thing and have any tips?Question about highlighting hair at home?
It's not hard at all, Foils Foils Foils! That's your answer!

It shows you the way to foil hair, but I just threw it in as an idea.





In order to get your hair purple, you have to pre-lighten it to a pale blonde (Won't be that hard since your hair is already light), the reason for this is because if it's not light enough, you will end up with more of a reddish violet and not purple.

Purple in the back, pink in the middle and white towards the front.


I would suggest for you to foil the hair when adding the Manic Panic too, that's to prevent it from going on the rest of your hair, that's what I do.

Use foils like they do in salons... I'm pretty sure you can find a tutorial or something online [youtube maybe?]. I do hair... and I do my own high lights (I do peak-a-boo high lights so they aren't so *there*... where it's high lights here and there underneath for pops of color throughout)





Using foils will help keep things separated so you don't have a hot mess of color all over your head. Have a friend help you out. Extra hands are always good. :)





You don't have to lighten the hair prior to putting the purple on either... unless you want the bold color. If you just want a slight wash of color, you can just apply it directly to the hair and get a neat purple tint.
