How soon after highlighting hair can you recolor hair darker?

Recently had my hair highlighted. Regretting ever doing so..turned out way too light. I want to go to the store and buy a darker hair color to wash in. Is this safe to do? Or will it damage the hair? I miss my dark brown hair.How soon after highlighting hair can you recolor hair darker?
Its fine to color your hair now if you want. To be honest, it doesn't really matter. You do however need to be careful about what color you choose. Darkening your hair after it's been lightened can cause some issues. If your hair has been damaged in the lightening process, your color may not come up evenly. Also depending on the color you choose it may appear smokey or ashy when you have completed the color. Although darkening your hair doesn't appear to be complicated, it might be in your best interest to go to a salon. Keep in mind, over coloring can cause problems, but darkening is not as harsh as lightening your hair.
if it was me, i'd probably wait a week or so- some people would probably say a month, but iv known people to do it the day after and its been fine, i jus like to leave it a bit longer. just make sure you use a few good products on it to keep it in good condition. cn you answer mine please?
